SPINDRIFT formed Jan. 1991 in Newark, DE consisting of composer Kirpatrick Thomas (lead vocals, guitar), Chris Andrews (guitar, vocals), Paul Budd (drums, vocals), and Pete VanKowenburg (Bass) as part of a burgeoning alternative music scene which exploded in/around the University of Delaware in the early decade. Their fans flocked to venues such as The Barn Door, Stone Balloon, East End Cafe, and a Deer Park Tavern. Bands such as Zen Guerrilla ended up on Alternative Tentacle Records via Jello Biafra, Mother Natures Blacklight Rainbow moved to New York and became the Toilet Boys as did the pop group Schroeder.
